The starting point is the fiasco of a clandestine Swiss military operation to free two Swiss citizens held by Colonel Foudaff in Libya. Ralph Walpen, director of the Swiss Diplomatic Task Force, asks his son for help in freeing the two hostages and the surviving soldiers who were imprisoned. His son Mark Walpen is the boss of a marketing consulting firm in Switzerland and is a visiting professor of strategy at war schools in the USA, Great Britain, France and Israel. This is why his father asked him for help. Mark develops a clever plan and uses his connections to recruit fighters from the best Western Special Forces. The operation is a success. Mark then creates an annex to his marketing consulting group dedicated exclusively to intelligence and geostrategic analysis called the Sword, which is supported by the elite soldiers used in Libya and henceforth known as the Falcons. Following this operation, a wave of Islamist attacks hit Europe. Two Franco-Swiss couples were kidnapped in Egypt and following the investigation the European authorities pointed the finger at Switzerland, which had to react. The Minister of Foreign Affairs asks Mark Walpen and the Sword to solve the case. This is how the reader will follow our Falcons from Lausanne to Dubai via Muscat and Montreux in order to track down the instigators of the attacks, who are not necessarily the ones we think of most during the reading.
